Dialysis Center
Dialysis is a medical procedure that helps remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood when a person’s kidneys are not functioning properly. It essentially acts as an artificial kidney, performing functions that the natural kidneys can no longer handle. Dialysis is crucial for individuals with kidney failure, helping them maintain a healthy balance of fluids and electrolytes.
One of our services is hemodialysis, a lifesaving treatment. This is the process of removing toxins and excess fluid from the blood and tissues by continually circulating the blood through a filter, known as a dialyzer or artificial kidney. Patients on hemodialysis can have a great quality of life if they follow their restrictions as prescribed, come to their treatments and take their medications as directed by their physician.
Peritoneal dialysis differs from hemodialysis in that patients give themselves the treatments after completing extensive training at the dialysis center. Peritoneal dialysis uses a membrane inside your body as a filter to clear wastes and extra fluid, while regulating electrolyte levels. The whole process is referred to as an exchange.
